What is dalgona coffee? -Dalgona Coffee, made popular in Tiktok, is also known as Frothy Coffee, Whipped Coffee, or Cloud Coffee.
Dalgona coffee is named after a famous Korean street candy of the same name in Korea, they call it ppopgi.
The dalgona as a candy is similar to toffee or honeycomb that's placed on a stick, but the now-viral caffeinated version as seen on TikTok and even on YouTube food channels is a three-ingredient sweet coffee-based froth you put on top of iced milk and if you don’t drink coffee, or if you don’t have any instant coffee on hand, you can make the recipe using instant hot chocolate powder instead!!!!
All you have to do is mix together equal part instant coffee, granulated sugar, and water—about 2 tablespoons of each.
I recommend whisking your ingredients in a KitchenAid mixer or with an electric hand whisk. The goal is to make the texture light and airy like you would with whipped cream. Once your coffee begins to form stiff peaks, you know you’re done.

As someone who considers themselves to be somewhat of a coffee snob, and much to my surprise, it was undeniably tasty and super simple to make. I also loved the consistency which was smooth and creamy. And it wasn’t as sweet as I anticipated.
I think whipped coffee might be the best new caffeinated beverage for those who don’t love traditional coffee.
While I don’t think I’ll be making whipped coffee every morning, it was fun to try something new. I think I may make it again once it gets warmer out—and maybe I’ll add in a shot of Kahlua for good measure.
